Sharifa Sultana

PhD Student

Biography

I am Sharifa Sultana, I am a PhD student in Information Science at Cornell University. I am advised by Nicola Dell at Cornell Tech. My research interests are in human-computer interaction (HCI) and information and communication technologies for development (ICTD). I conduct research on the intersection between Human Emotion, Mental Health and Multimodal Signal Processing. The motivation of my research is to develop intelligent computational tools and systems for physical and mental health of the marginalized people in developing countries. I am currently working on how technology can be designed and developed to help women in rural Bangladesh who are suffering from domestic abuse and mental health issues.

 

I have completed my Undergrad In EEE at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I was Physical Chip Design Engineer in PrimeSilicon Technology(BD) from 2013 to 2014. I have worked as a Junior Lecturer at Independent University, Bangladesh from 2015-2016 (I am on study leave now).
