As of September 2011, Syed Ishtiaque Ahmed became a PhD student at the Department of Information Science of Cornell University. His study and research are being supported by the International Fulbright Science and Technology Fellowship. Before he moved to the United States, he graduated with both Bachelor and Masters degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET)

Syed Ishtiaque was introduced to research while studying the optimization algorithms of Computational Geometry for his undergraduate thesis. Later his research works variegated over the time and he frequently switched between the qualitative and quantitative domains of analyses and investigations. His current research interests include Network Dynamics and ICT Development. He wants to become an independent researcher and in the future would like to get to a place where he can experiment with hypotheses regarding design and development.
