Continuing our year-to-year growth and infusing even more talent into our exceptional faculty, Cornell Information Science has added three new faculty members this fall. 

We are thrilled and excited to welcome the following to our Ithaca and New York City campuses:

Cristobal Cheyre will join Cornell Information Science as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2019 after completing a post-doctoral fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University. Cheyre’s research focuses on the economic, strategic, and organizational implications of the technologies that are shaping the data economy. Following completion of his PhD in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, he spent two years in Chile as Executive Director of “The Clover 2030 Engineering Strategy”, a strategic initiative to propel the School of Engineering of P. Universidad Catolica de Chile (PUC) to world class standards.

Rajalakshmi Nandakumar will join Cornell Information Science at Cornell Tech in New York City as an Assistant Professor in January 2020. Her research focuses on developing and deploying computing technologies that can create an impact in the real world and improve the quality of life. Domains where she develops these technologies include mobile health, user interfaces and the Internet of Things. Nandakumar completed her PhD at the University of Washington’s Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering and has had numerous papers selected at major conferences, including “3D localization for sub-centimeter sized devices”, which won a Best Paper Award at ACM SenSys 2018.

Aditya Vashistha
Aditya Vashistha will join Cornell Information Science as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2019. His research spans human computer Interaction, computing for development, and accessibility technology, with an aim to use social computing to achieve social good for people in low-resource environments. Vashistha completed his PhD at the University of Washington’s Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering and has been published extensively at conferences including CHI, COMPASS, and ICTD.
