Message from the Chair

Technology is transforming the world and humanity itself.

Information Science at Cornell University studies how people and society interact with computing and information – ranging from the scale of individuals interacting with their devices, to social interactions through information systems, to ways in which these devices and systems interact with society and culture. Information Science is a deeply interdisciplinary subject, incorporating aspects of design, behavioral, analytical, interpretive and data-driven research methodologies in order to understand and design the rich interactions between information systems, digital media, and their human audiences. This positions our students to profoundly influence the technologies that are transforming our world.
