Fussell Receives Excellence Award from Grad Student Assembly

Fresh off her recent selection to CHI Academy, Susan Fussell has been recognized by current and former graduate students for excellence in teaching, advising and mentoring. A professor in Cornell's Information Science and Communication departments, Fussell was one of three Cornell community members who recently received the Award of Excellence from the university's Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GPSA), which established the award in 2011 to acknowledge and express gratitude to Cornell's invaluable faculty mentors.

The award is based on nomination letters from current and former graduate students, who highlight the positive impact their graduate advisors had on them during their time at Cornell. Recipients are awarded based on the GPSA's eight selection criteria, including advising, collegiality, leadership, and responsiveness. As the GPSA puts it, "In many cases, these faculty members serve as inspiring role models, a champion of graduate and professional student interests, and go above and beyond in their commitment to furthering their students' personal and professional success."

Fussell received the award along with Christopher Barrett of the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management and David Lin of the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
