Alex Meyers, Information Science Major '15

This year, we are spotlighting some of our graduating Seniors in time for graduation. Alex Meyers is an Information Science major from the College of Arts and Sciences who will be going to work for eBay in the fall.

From Alex: Information Science has provided me with the foundation to pursue my dream job of product management for a technology company. The technical classes taught me the basics for building amazing web applications, and the HCI classes allowed me to hone my UX skills. This knowledge--combined with the guidance and assistance of Professor Cosley, Professor Williamson and Amy Sindone--gave me the initial tools I needed to co-found the social media startup, www.daapr.com. The IS faculty and staff were extremely supportive of my technical entrepreneurial ambitions. The curriculum structure allowed me to apply material I learned in class to real-world applications. This terrific experience led to a Product Manager position with eBay in San Jose, CA, beginning in September. The past four years as an IS major at Cornell exceeded my already-high expectations, and I will look back on them fondly for the rest of my life.
