Tapan Parikh

About

Tapan Parikh is an associate professor of information science at Cornell Tech and the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. His research includes human-computer interaction and the design and evaluation of information technologies for education, governance, and international development. Parikh’s students have started several tech companies based on his research and teaching.

Parikh holds a Sc.B. degree in molecular modeling with honors from Brown University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Washington, where his dissertation won the William Chan Memorial Award. Parikh has received the NSF CAREER Award and a Sloan Fellowship, and he was named TR35 Humanitarian of the Year.

Parikh is an affiliated faculty member of the Digital Life Initiative at Cornell Tech, which explores societal perspectives surrounding the development and application of digital technology. He is also a member of the XR Collaboratory, which studies augmented and virtual reality technologies. He has been featured in news outlets like the Atlantic, New Scientist, and the MIT Technology Review.
