Exams
All exams are closed-book and closed-notes. The final exam is cumulative.
Exam Accommodations
Because exam dates are known in advance, all students are expected to take the exams at the scheduled times unless they have an accommodation. If you have an accommodation to take the exam on another date, you must notify us no later than 7 days prior to the exam.
This course is participating in the SDS Alternative Testing Program (ATP). If you have an approved exam accommodation, you must request it for this course as soon as possible but no later than 7 days before the first exam. Failure to do so may result in the inability to use your accommodation. Review the ATP Student Guide.
All exam logistics will be communicated to you from SDS-ATP. Do not contact me with questions about exam logistics, as I will not be able to answer them. Questions should be sent to sds-testing@cornell.edu.
Missed Exams
I understand that you may need to miss an exam for a legitimate reason (e.g., illness, emergency, religious observance, etc.). Make-up exams are not provided for missed exams. Missed exams will be handled accordingly:
| Missed Exam | Outcome |
|---|---|
| Missing Exam 1 or 2 | Half of the missed exam's weight will be shifted to the other exam and the other half will be shifted to the final exam. |
| Missing both Exam 1 and 2 | You should withdraw from the course. You will receive a 0 for both missed exams. If you miss the final exam, you are not eligible for an incomplete grade. |
| Missing the Final Exam | You may either: 1) Take an incomplete grade and take the final exam the next semester the course is offered. 2) Take 1/3 of your final exam grade from exam 1, 1/3 from exam 2, and 1/3 from an oral exam to be schedule with the instructor. (If you missed exam 1 or 2, you will take a 0 for that part of your final exam grade and a 0 for the missed exam grade shifted to the final exam.) |
