His research interest lies in using machine intelligence to understand human­-computer interaction (HCI) in a ubiquitous environment. Specifically, I’m interested in designing, implementing, and evaluating new interactive systems that combine devices and sensors to sense users’ contexts, thus providing intelligent user interfaces tailored to individual needs.

Fengyang Lin is a Ph.D. student in Information Science focusing on digital economy, online platforms, privacy and security. Her research centers on understanding and evaluating the relationship between technology and online platform users, with a keen focus on their attitudes, experiences, and behaviors concerning advertising and privacy matters. She has a background in statistics, machine learning and economics. Before joining Cornell, she earned a B.S. in Applied Statistics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in Shanghai, China and an M.S. in Statistics from Columbia University.

Jiacheng Liu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Smart Computer Interfaces for Future Interactions (SciFi) Lab (https://www.scifilab.org) at Cornell University, advised by Prof. Cheng Zhang (https://czhang.org). His research focuses on designing wearable sensing and interactive systems that enable unobtrusive and seamless human-computer interaction. Before joining Cornell, he received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Tsinghua University.

Jiahao Liu is a Ph.D. student in Information Science at Cornell University, advised by Andrea Stevenson Won at the Virtual Embodiment Lab. His research interest mainly lies in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Virtual and Mixed Reality (VR/MR), Digitally-Mediated Communication, etc. He is currently exploring how we could understand the information communicated through immersive media, and with the virtual and mixed reality technology, how we could better facilitate teamwork dynamics, human-human collaboration, and human-agent interaction.

Tianqi Liu is an HCI researcher. She is particularly interested in studying fields such as VR, social computing, and ubiquitous computing. She aims to analyze behaviors in human-human and human-machine interactions, and further improve and design future interaction methods.

Travis Lloyd is a Ph.D. student in Information Science focusing on Computational Social Science, Social Computing, and Tech Policy. He is interested in studying how new technologies impact power relationships in society. Prior to joining Cornell he spent almost a decade working as a software engineer for organizations ranging from large public companies to small legal aid startups. He holds a combined A.B.-Sc.B degree in Computer Science and Music from Brown University.

Research Interests: Computational Social Science, Political Communication, Platform Power, Tech Policy, Social Computing 

Saif works in the Smart Computer Interfaces for Future Interactions (SciFi) Lab, where he is advised by Prof. Cheng Zhang. His research focuses on designing intelligent wearable systems and modeling the behavior and interaction patterns of humans. Ruth Martinez-Yepes is a Ph.D. student in Information Science focusing on doing research through Art. She is interested in creating metaphors to explore the relationship between body, data, and information. Also, to think critically about the narrative of information technology as neutral and immaterial. Before joining Cornell, she worked as a master facilitator on a gendered-focused Art+STEM educational program supported by Maloka Interactive Museum and the Colombian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications. 

Johan is a first year PhD student in the Department of Information Science. His research investigates field robotic systems within their contexts, looking at how decisions in robot design influence wider systems robots exist within. Johan holds degrees in Computer Science (BS, MS) and Philosophy (BA) from the University of Washington (UW). He was previously a Researcher at the 3A Institute within the School of Cybernetics at the Australian National University, and helped establish the undergraduate computer ethics curriculum at the Paul G. Allen School at UW.

Katherine is an Information Science PhD student working with Professor Gili Vidan. She explore themes of trust, authenticity, and meaning-making in technology-mediated interactions and experiences. Her research interests include themes of (dis)trust in digital technology, virtual/augmented reality, technology-aided art, and human-computer interactions. Before coming to Cornell, she completed my BA in Sociology at Princeton University and my MPhil in Digital Humanities at Trinity College Dublin.

Dibyendu's interests encompass critically examining emerging technologies for issues around social justice, citizen-state relations and the future of work. He further seeks to design contextually appropriate interventions to address some of these issues. Dibyendu has a bachelor's degree in computer science and worked as a software developer and data scientist, both in the public and private sectors, prior to joining Cornell.
