Professor Paul Ginsparg Honored at White House

Information Science and Physics Professor Paul Ginsparg will be honored at the White House on June 20, 2013 as a Champion of Change for his work on arXiv, also known as the Internet e-Print Archive.

Ginsparg started arXiv in 1991 as a means of sharing research results among fellow physicists. The project grew to expand to include a wider variety of fields, now emcompassing physics, math, computer science, quantitative biology, quantitative finance and statistics, now providing open access to more than 800,000 electronic e-prints. Ginsparg's work and the arXiv database have been credited with providing open access to research results for a global community of researchers which can drive innovation and result in scientific breakthroughs.

Congratulations to Professor Paul Ginsparg from all of us in the department of Information Science!

There will be a live feed of the event available on Friday, June 20, 2013 at 1pm on whitehouse.gov/live.
