Karen Levy is an associate professor in the Department of Information Science at Cornell University, and associate member of the faculty of Cornell Law School. She researches the legal, organizational, social, and ethical aspects of data-intensive technologies. She is interested in what happens when we use digital technologies to enforce rules and make decisions about people, particularly in contexts marked by conditions of inequality. A good deal of her research considers the impact of data-intensive technologies on work and workers. Dr. Levy is a New America Fellow and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR). She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University and a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
