Scholarship

The Department of Information Science is offering applicants the opportunity to apply for our newly established Diversity and Excellence Scholarship. For eligibility and application information please click here.

Assistantship Oppurtunity

We have a limited number of  GTRS (Graduate Teaching/Research Specialist) positions (this is an MPS level TA position) each semester.

  • All students will be sent a survey typically in June. To be eligible, students must be a registered Graduate Student during the semester they are applying to be a GTRS for. Undergraduate Early Admit students are not eligible for these positions.
  • Students are considered for available positions for which they express interest and are qualified.
  • Not all courses are allocated MPS level TAs; selecting three courses of interest is recommended.
  • Students will be notified approximately one month before the start of each semester of any offers.
  • We discourage all students from assuming they will be awarded a GTRS and warn that they are in no way guaranteed from one semester to the next.
  • GTRS positions carry a stipend which is paid semi-monthly over the semester. The rate of pay varies on the start and end date of the position.
  • No tuition and no health insurance are included in the GTRS appointments.
  • GTRS positions cannot be taken for MPS credit.

Besides the above mentioned funding oppurtunities, the Department of Information Science does not offer financial aid to MPS students. Funding is the sole responsibility of the student. Historically, students have financed their studies through family money, assumption of loans, corporate or government sponsorship or by obtaining an outside fellowship. Students should expect to pay for the entire MPS program using their own resources.

PAYING TUITION

Domestic students can apply for federally subsidized loans by completing a FAFSA form available here www.fafsa.ed.gov. We encourage all students to visit the Graduate School's Fellowship page for possible funding oppurtunities.
