Lawrence E. Blume is a professor of Information Science and serves as the Charles F. and Barbara D. Weiss Director of Undergraduate Studies and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for Cornell Bowers CIS. He is also Distinguished Arts & Sciences Professor of Economics. He is a Visiting Research Professor at IHS and a member of the external faculty at the Santa Fe Institute, where he has served as Co-Director of the Economics Program and on the Institute's steering committee. He teaches and conducts research in general equilibrium theory and game theory, as well as income and wealth distribution and network design. A Fellow of the Econometric Society, he received an BA in Economics from Washington University and a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. Blume was one of the general editors of The New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics, 2nd edition, to which he contributed several articles on economic theory.
