Info Sci MPS students are invited to this special workshop on portfolio development. It will include:

  • Presentation by Janani Subhashini Umamaheswaran, MPS '17
  • Q&A panel featuring three Cornell University alumni and design professionals
  • a chance to receive in-person feedback on your current portfolio
  • Food!

Students who attend the workshop will also be given the opportunity to contact an alum working in design to receive follow-up feedback and further portfolio advice. The Career Services no show policy applies to this event.

Alumni Bios:

  • Janani Subhashini Umamaheswaran, MPS '17, Product Designer & Researcher at VMware. Janani has a Master's from Cornell University in Information Science & HCI, and a Bachelor's in Computer Science. Her experience is spread across multiple domains in Technology, Telecommunication and Financial Services.
  • Darcy Branchini, MPS '18, Senior UX Designer with Cornell University Library. Darcy is an accomplished UX and UI designer with 12+ years experience whose skills include user research and interviews, user testing, usability evaluation, wireframes, prototypes, requirements definition, information architecture, responsive design, CSS3, Bootstrap, Semantic UI, Sketch, Photoshop/Illustrator, Balsamiq, HTML5, SASS/LESS, D3, Leaflet, Ruby on Rails, PHP, and Git.
  • Joseph Williams, MPS '16, Lead Web Designer at Cornell University. Joseph is a multi-faceted designer with cross-disciplinary experience over the course of ten years in visual design, front-end web development and user experience design. From research to prototyping, design to development, he is involved and able to contribute to all aspects of the process.
  • Lin Xue, M.L.A. '11, UX Designer and Web developer at Cornell University. Lin previously worked as a graphic designer for a landscape architecture firm and is a skilled full-stack web developer using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, C#, PHP, SQL. She is an experienced communicator and presenter with several years of teaching experience.
