Talk: Virtual Reality in Clinical Applications

Abstract: How do mediated experiences change people’s perceptions, especially in immersive media? My research areas include the clinical applications of virtual reality and how nonverbal behavior as rendered in virtual environments affects collaboration and teamwork. More specifically, I study how the way you see your own and others’ actions represented affects how you understand your self, others and your environment.  I also explore how changing this representation can change peo ple’s perceptions and allow them to collaborate, learn, and experience in ways that they can’t in the real world.
